Mixed Media Canvas Art

Hello everyone

I'm Kerri one of the Scrapmixers design team. I have for you today a 'CAS' (Clean and Simple) mixed media canvas art tutorial. I thought with valentines coming up it would make a great gift for the one you love.

To create this canvas I used:

Square canvas
Red Spritz Ink
Hematite Spritz Ink
Gold embossing powder
Clear emboss ink pad
'Love' stencil
Arrow stencil
Gold mirror arrows
Black metallic paint
Gold spotted craft tape
Gold gems
Black wooden arrow
Gold & black paper

Essential tools:

Heart punch
Tacky glue
Heat gun

Step 1: I used the red spritz ink to cover the canvas, once dry I added drips of the hematite spritz ink by removing the spray nozzle and dripping the ink, I then left to completely dry.

Step 2: I applied the 'Love' stencil to the centre and then applied clear emboss ink, I removed the stencil and added gold embossing powder. I tapped off the excess powder onto a scrap piece of paper and put back into the pot so not to waste any. I used my heat gun to heat the embossing powder leaving behind a beautiful foiled effect 'Love'.

Step 3: I applied my arrow stencil to the top edge and used black metallic paint, I then repeated the process to the bottom opposite edge.

Step 4: I applied self adhesive gold mirror arrows above each of the black stencilled areas.

Step 5: I cut craft tape into thin strips with triangular edges and applied to the top left hand corner. I then added gold gems and a mini wooden arrow.

Step 6: I used a heart punch in gold and black paper to create the mini heart for the top left hand corner.

If you would like to create this canvas you can find all the materials on www.imaginedesigncreate.co.uk and use code 'Scrapmixers' to received 10% off. If you have been inspired by this canvas to create your own mixed media art please do share it with us in the comments. We love to see your work.
